Emeritus Professor Dato' Dr Abdul Rahman Embong, one of Malaysia’s most distinguished sociologists, will take leaders on a profound exploration of the nation's pivotal year, 1955. Dato' Abdul Rahman Embong

Sociologist, University Kebangsaan Malaysia

Professor Dato' Dr. Abdul Rahman Embong is a development sociologist with expertise in development, class, ethnicity, nation-state, and globalisation. He holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Leicester, an MA from SOAS, University of London, and a PhD (Distinction) from Universiti Malaya. He served as a research fellow at UKM's IKMAS for over two decades, retiring in 2018, and was the founding Principal Fellow at the Malaysian Institute for Integrity. A past president and Special Advisor of the Malaysian Social Science Association, he is a Founding Member and Fellow of the Academy of Professors Malaysia. He has authored/edited over 30 books and led key policy research, including the National Integrity Plan. Post-retirement, he continues writing, advising ORIDAS Research, and engaging in advocacy.
